"According to experimental psychology, is the sense of touch that puts us in contact with reality through the notions of solidity, structure and weight, whereas sight -visual perception- connects us with the immaterial through colour and light. Thus, visual perception has been related to the intellect, the spirit and imagination, leaving touch to earthlier and less spiritual concerns. This may be why it is said that the eyes are the mirrors of the soul.
